INSPECTION PROCEDURE & REQUIREMENTS
BUREAU OF FIRE INVESTIGATION

Below are the outlined inspection procedures and required fire safety equipment. Please read through the information before applying for your inspection.

Once your property meets the requirements, apply for an inspection here: ACCESS

General Procedure
  • Fire Marshals from the Bureau of Fire Investigation will introduce themselves and instruct you to unlock any doors for easy access. Fire Marshals must be granted access
  • to every part of the building, including storage rooms, offices, restrooms, etc.
For large properties, Marshals may request that you guide them through the building in order to efficiently inspect every area.
  • All required equipment and devices (outlined below) will be inspected and tested to ensure they're up-to-date and in working condition. The fire alarm system will be tested as well.
  • Upon finishing the inspection, the property will receive a pass or fail mark and the Marshal will communicate the reasons for such mark.
  • For passing inspections, the Bureau of Fire Investigation will handle the rest of the procedure and a Certificate of Approval will be mailed to you in 7-10 business days. Upon passing the inspection, you may immediately resume normal operation.
