BUREAU OF FIRE INVESTIGATION
- I’ve been served a First Notice. What does this mean? Do I have to shut down my business?
A First Notice is served to a business when they open for operation and do not have an active Certificate of Approval. The notice gives a 5 day grace period for the property owner to apply for inspection. You DO NOT need to shut down; businesses can continue operating during that 5 day grace period. Once an inspection is applied for, the business can continue operation as normal until an inspection is conducted. - I’ve been served a Final Warning. What does this mean? Do I have to shut down my business?
A Final Warning is served to a business after the initial 5 day grace period, IF the property owner has still not applied for an inspection and is found continuing to operate. The Final Warning gives a 3 day grace period in which the property owner must apply for inspection, and the business can continue operating without action taken against them. You do not need to shut down during this grace period. This is the last notice served to a business before a Cease & Desist order is applicable. - There is a lock on my business’ door and a Cease & Desist notice! What does this mean?
A Cease & Desist is served when the property owner has been served the Final Warning, has still neglected to apply for a business inspection, and has continued operating. A Cease & Desist orders an immediate shut-down of the business, and the property is locked by the Bureau of Fire Investigation as it is deemed unsafe for operation.
In order to gain control of your business back, you must contact the Bureau of Fire Investigation directly. You will be required to pay a fine, and once paid, you can apply for an inspection. Once the inspection is applied for, a Marshal will contact you to schedule. The property will remain inaccessible until the inspection date. - My inspection was marked as ‘failed.’ What do I do now?
The Fire Marshal who conducted your inspection will have outlined the reasons for failure, whether it be missing equipment, unsafe chemical storage, etc. The first order of business is to ensure you make the necessary changes to your property in order to meet all of the requirements. After this, you can apply for inspection as normal and we will conduct a re-inspection. - ((Do ALL properties on the server need to get an inspection?))
((No. Commercial properties are required to have a passed inspection. Residential properties can be optionally inspected if a player wishes to engage in that RP. Residential properties are exempt from warnings and C&D orders but can still RPly fail an inspection.)) - ((Do I have to map all of the objects into my interior?))
((No. Although it helps for immersion purposes, we cannot enforce mapping. If you decide not to map the equipment into your interior, we will RP it all by asking questions about the equipment in /do. Please be as detailed as possible so we can RP it correctly.))
